Typical Routine Burner Service
 

• Remove burner cover to expose parts
• Remove and clean burner gun
• Inspect and set up electrodes
• Clean flame sensing device and test if operating
• Oil burners - verify nozzle sizes and check condition
• Examine HT leads and plugs for signs of undue wear or damage
• Check, clean  and or replace fuel filters
• Replace seals as required
• Verify fuel pressure and flow rate
• Check settings and combustion readings
• Adjust and configure settings as necessary
• Re fit burner cover and test fire throughout its range.

A standard requirement for routine service works including consumable items and replacement parts is normally issued by the original burner manufacturer. The service scope is likely to vary and differ throughout the global supplier range. The end user is ultimately responsible for developing and implementing a suitable maintenance program and including the compilation of any related inhouse working procedures, which should be developed following the review and scrutiny of the original O & M information issued by each specific manufacturer.
 

Many leading manufacturers advise that Industrial / Commercial burners should be serviced on a quarterly basis regardless of the fuel type and firing conditions.  However depending upon the operating regime, twice  yearly for gas fired and three times for oil fired is generally the acceptable approach.
